Shaheedi Hafta
Shaheedi Hafta: the December week remembering the Guru's young sons
What this journey is for
Shaheedi Hafta is a week in late December when many Sikhs remember the four young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, and their grandmother Mata Gujri Ji, who gave their lives rather than give up their faith. These eight short days follow their story gently, with a line of Sikh scripture, a question and a small practice, focusing on courage, faith and kindness rather than on how they died. You need no prior knowledge and do not need to observe anything, and you can begin in December or at any time of year.
When is it?
A week in late December. You can begin in the season itself or at any time of year.
Each day
A short passage, one question to sit with, room to write and one small practice. About five minutes.
